SPRING CLEAN UP

This is the only appropriate time of the year for heavy trimming of shrubs or trees.

•  When pruning dry or dead stems of a plant, leave a couple inches of stem above ground so the plant is not covered with mulch. Also, we see it and fertilize it. 
• Crepe Myrtles need to be trimmed every couple years. 
• After trimming and cleaning up, disturb old mulch to break build up and let air and water penetrate. Add a nice, fresh and thin layer of new mulch.  
• Light raking of dry grass and tree leaves allows sunlight and air to get into the roots of the grass.
• Do any planting before it gets too hot. New grass, plants and flowers must be established before Summer arrives.
